Before we get into the nitty-gritty of each tape, let’s take a look at their specifications.  Understanding the size and price of each option is essential for making an informed decision.

From this table, you can see that Paddlesshop and the no-brand options have a width of 26mm, providing a broader surface area for protection. Sixzero, on the other hand, offers a slightly narrower width at 23mm.

Cost is always a factor when purchasing pickleball paddle edge guard tape. The Sixzero Professional Paddle Edge Tape is priced at $18, positioning it among the pricier options. However, many players argue that its quality justifies the expense. What do you think about that?

The Paddlesshop Premium Paddle Edge Tape price for $9.99, which is competitive given its quality. The unbranded alternatives are significantly cheaper, with prices ranging from $5.99 to $6.99; however, No-Brand Edge Tape B may not match the performance or durability of its branded counterparts.

One of the most crucial aspects of any edge tape is its touch and feel. After all, you want something that not only protects your paddle but also feels good in your hands during gameplay.

Paddlesshop Premium Paddle Edge Tape: This tape has a soft textured texture that feels luxurious to the touch. It provides a good grip without being too sticky or rough, making it comfortable for long periods of use.

Sixzero Professional Paddle Edge Tape: Unlike paddlesshop’s scheme, the surface is smoother to the touch with no texture, and while slightly narrower, Sixzero’s edge tape still provides a pleasant feel.

No-Brand Edge Tape A(Pre-Cut Designs): Like Paddlesshop’s scheme, the surfaces are textured, But I feel a little hard, not that soft. This tapes come with pre-cut designs that make application easier around corners.

No-Brand Edge Tape B: Similar to No-Brand A, the surface is textured, just thinner to the touch.

Durability is another critical factor when selecting an edge tape. You want something that can withstand the rigors of gameplay without falling apart after a few matches.

I put these edge tapes through a durable scratch test (each one had a hard scratch on the ground at least 5 times).

Paddlesshop Edge Tape: This tape showed remarkable resilience against scratches and wear.  After five hard scratches, a small scratch penetrated the edge tape, but the paddle’s original edge guard was not worn.

Sixzero Edge Tape: Sixzero performed well too; But for material reasons, there is no more abrasive than Paddlesshop pickleball edge tape.

No-Brand Edge Tape A: It is worth mentioning that the scratch resistance test of No-Brand Edge Tape A(Pre-Cut Designs) is comparable to that of Padddlesshop edge tape.

No-Brand Edge Tape B: Similar to Sixzero pickleball edge tape.

Overall, if you’re looking for durability in your pickleball paddle edge tape, Paddlesshop or No-Brand Edge Tape A(Pre-Cut Designs) is definitely the way to go! Of course the sixzero edge tape isn’t bad either.

This scratch resistance test program is just a special rigorous test to find out which one is more durable. But in the process of actual confrontation between two player, do not worry about these 4 edge tapes which can be very good to protect your paddles.

One concern many players have when using edge tape is whether it will leave behind any sticky residue when removed from their paddles.

After testing each tape for residue:

Paddlesshop Paddle Edge Tape: I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was absolutely no residue left behind when I removed this tape!   It peeled off cleanly without any sticky remnants.

Sixzero Paddle Edge Tape: This tape also did well in this category;  Easy to remove without leaving a sticky residue.

No-Brand Edge Tape A: Similar to Paddlesshop edge tape or Sixzero.

No-Brand Edge Tape B: While there was a tiny bit of residue left behind, it was easily wiped away without any hassle.

In conclusion, if you want an edge tape that won’t leave a mess behind when you decide to replace it, Paddlesshop or Sixzero is your best bet!

Does the adhesive remain strong after repeated applications and removals? Do any tapes peel off easily during play?

I took this problem to the test again. In short, these four models can be reused, and you don’t have to worry about the second re-paste after the loss of stickiness. The only difference in this test is that when the edge tape is torn off, the sides of the two unbranded edge tapes easily bend inward. You need to peel it back. paddlesshop and sixzero’s edge tape had no such problems.

After thoroughly testing all four options, I recommend both Paddlesshop Premium Paddle Edge and No-Brand Edge Tape A (Pre-Cut Designs) as they can extend your paddle’s lifespan while enhancing your gameplay experience.

The Sixzero edge tape is also a commendable choice. No matter if you like the color of the pickleball paddle edge tape pink, white, or black, you will find options that perfectly match your style!
