Overview
Not many pros use Vulcan, and that’s why I chose it. I was looking for something unique. After playing with the V940 for about a month, I can confidently say that it was a worthwhile investment.
First of all, it’s stylish. The Vulcan V940 Hybrid Paddle has an elongated handle and a hybrid design that combines the best of both worlds. Its “V” shape highlights the carbon fiber material and branding elements, while the white edge guard and handle enhance its aesthetics.
Second, the V940 has a lot of pop. But it’s not like a super-fast sports car stuck in fifth gear. You can adjust the power as you need it. If you’re just cruising around town, you don’t need maximum power, but when you hit the open road, it’s there.
It has a similar amount of power to other “power” paddles, but its design allows you to finesse your shots when you need to, like for reset shots, dinks, or gentle cross-court slices.
Third, let’s talk spin. After a month with the Vulcan, I can tell you that spin is still in the game.
And finally, talk control. Many 16mm paddles claim to offer control, and some do. But they often sacrifice power. The Vulcan V940, on the other hand, magically combines both control and power effortlessly.
I don’t know how they do it, but my previous paddles couldn’t strike that balance. It was either all power with the 14mm or all control with the 16mm. The Vulcan engineers for mastering the art of combining the two in one paddle. Now backhand slices are a breeze.
Whether you’re a pro or a beginner looking to improve your game, read on to learn all about the Vulcan V940 Hybrid Paddle.
Spin Insights
The spin of this paddle is amazing, and I think this quickly became one of the favorites, With the Vulcan V940 Hybrid Paddle, you can effortlessly add the perfect amount of spin to the ball while maintaining precise control.
The paddle’s Quatro-Carbon face material is designed to enhance spin, allowing you to slice or apply side spin to disrupt your opponent’s game.
Control Insights
The Vulcan V940 Hybrid shines when it comes to executing a delicate third shot drop and excels when it comes to a smooth, finesse game. It also performs admirably when driving the ball, especially if you have some power.
My own paddle weighed in at 7.8 ounces, which allowed me to add significant power to my drives.
Power Insights
The Vulcan V940 Hybrid paddle is expertly crafted to maximize power while maintaining a smooth feel.
With its 16mm ZEP9 core, this paddle delivers ample pop without compromising control.
Players will find the paddle’s feel in their hands to be just right, striking the ideal balance between power and finesse.
Whether you’re looking to gently lift the ball over the net or smash it for a winning shot, this paddle will assist you effortlessly.
In addition, the Quatro-Carbon blade material adds an extra layer of toughness and durability, making it resistant to dings and scratches while maintaining exceptional performance.
The result is a paddle that can take on the toughest opponents and emerge victorious.
Pop Insights
The V940 provides plenty of pop.Whether you’re a casual player or an intense player, this paddle delivers plenty of power comparable to other paddles in the “power” category.
Its design allows for precision and finesse, making it suitable for a variety of shot types including reset shots, dinks or controlled cross-court slices.
Durability Insights
The Vulcan V940 hybrid paddle is built tough with a four-carbon face material for durability and exceptional performance on the court.
According to the brand, this advanced carbon fiber material can handle even the roughest conditions while providing excellent responsiveness, control and spin.
Unlike earlier paddles like Ben Johns’ Franklin, which relied solely on paint for texture, the carbon fiber surface of this paddle doesn’t lose its grip easily. So you don’t have to worry about the texture wearing off quickly.
Price Insights
If you’re willing to give it a try, this paddle is a worthwhile investment, although it does come with a slightly higher price tag at around $230.
However, everyone who has tried it has been pleased with it. I have to say that the entire V900 series is fantastic, and I find the V940 hybrid paddle particularly appealing.
